For our 8th anniversary, Philip surprised me and made a reservation at the Tasting Counter. I’ve been dropping hints for some time that it would be a nice place to go for any special occasion we had, so when it was time for him to plan our anniversary dinner, I’m glad he took the hint!
Tasting Counter offers a nine-course tasting menu paired with either all-natural wine or sake pairing. We had one of each so we could try a little bit of both. I pretty much stuck with my wine pairing though and took a sip of Philip’s sake whenever it sounded like something I would like.
I loved the open kitchen concept. The chefs prepared the dishes right in front of you and you got to see how they meticulously plated each course. I didn’t take a photo of every course but wanted to share some highlights here! Side note: They do change their lunch and dinner tasting menu often, so you never know what you’ll get until you’re there!
Overall, I knew I was in for a treat even though I had no idea what we were going to eat. Both Philip and I enjoyed all the courses + wine/sake pairing so much and would recommend coming here. My biggest advice for anyone who wants to make a reservation is to make it early. Tasting Counter is only open Wednesday-Saturday for 1 lunch service and 2 dinner services with 20 seats per service.
